Experiment and The Little Mermaid

If you haven't guessed it by now, I want to work on photography. I want to be a photographer. I have a LOOONG way to go, leagues even. I really need better photo equipment, but, hey, I am always one to make the best of a situation, I MAKE DO.
I found a cheap-o underwater casing for my iphone... yeah, I know... a little Bridge and Tunnel, a little white trash... but IT WORKED. More or less. I am really please that a least one or three of the photos came out looking "not bad, not bad at all", despite the experimental nature of the entire endeavour.

Ms. Jones

I've been watching some ANTM (for the layman, that would be America's Next Top Model) while I've been editing this week, and the modelling world and all it's lingo is creeping into my mind/vocabulary/dreams. A model had to "become" Grace Jones, in costume, makeup, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, attitude. The overall effect led to some internet diving and prowling.

The result:
WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO. That lady is a rock star!

I wish Grace Jones was my spirit animal.
But I don't think I'm confident enough for this kind of power.
What a gorgeous Amazon. A Wonder Woman in the flesh.

I’ve looked the devil in the face, and god, and somehow I've found a balance. But being extreme is at the same time a balance–one extreme balances the other. –Grace Jones

Yo' momma.

I just stumbled onto a beautiful Huffington Post article that displayed something, which to me is, truly touching. The article hit me BAM right in the center of my heart, probably because I have been swinging back and forth on the baby-crazy meter for a while now. This very moment, I'm crazy. Tomorrow: meh... not so much.
The photographer Ken Heyman took these photos over 50 years ago as a series for a book he co-wrote, Family. He recently had been cleaning out a storage unit, and found these photos in a box marked "Mothers". Just take a glance at my favorites from the article (and check out the article HERE), and you can see why my cold, black heart melted so:

Mermaiding Mermaiden Mermaid Claire

My good friend Lady Lavender, my purple haired friend Kathryn  Bagley Bingham, took some beautiful Selkie/Mermaid photos of me this last spring.
Of course of course of course, I am just barely getting around to posting this event. But, I just need to acknowledge her talent. She works almost exclusively in film, which is impressive, so everybody run and hire this girl to make you look like a fairy tale.
Check out her amazing website: CLICK HERE, FOOL

Ghosting

This is a story of shaking and spirits...

...and then she stepped out of her body and into the night.

My fake kids and secret dreams of the snow, aka. the Wall Family

This is my sister Whitney and her Supermanhusband, Ryan.
I LOVE THEM SO SO MUCH.
Mostly because they are awesome, but also because they had kids (four boundless bundles of joy, to be exact) and I love them MORE.
JK, (but only kind of, tee hee)... I will write a love letter to you, Ms Whitney, once I get home to Utah to do another family photo for you. XOXO.

When I have a family, I really hope that they are as bright, beautiful, interesting, quirky, and unique as the Wall kids (and parents) are. Good thing I'm pregnant. JUST KIDDING.
You'd love that, wouldn't you, ENTIRE FAMILY?

I couldn't leave out Willow. Because I secretly plan on stealing her, changing her name to Balto, and training her to lead my brave sled dog pack down the Iditarod trail, along with the Wall family's two cats.
Pipe dreams.

Paige as a river nymph, a creek selkie, a prom queen, a flowergirl, and my friend

  1.  I can't get enough of this face.
  2. Paige is a rockstar. LOOK AT HER.
  3. She doesn't get how unique her beauty is. I'm considering making an education of this for her. I'll write an encyclopedia.
  4. She needs to let me take her photo more often.

A little more R and R, aka. Rachel Radebaugh

Can we just acknowledge how great my pal Rachel is?

She has two little crazies to take care of (awesome crazies, only love only, I promise), and still manages to look like a sexy French chocolatier who the entire village is secretly in love with, men AND woman alike? I mean, come on... I am pretty sure its how she stylishly tucks in her shirt, but that could just be me and a thinly veiled inside joke. She is one of my absolute favorite new friends, because she was immediately found out to be the sister to my soul and the rebel leader of my fantasy street gang.

I miss you, Lady R. Come back to the beach soon. Bring everyone.
