Experiment and The Little Mermaid

If you haven't guessed it by now, I want to work on photography. I want to be a photographer. I have a LOOONG way to go, leagues even. I really need better photo equipment, but, hey, I am always one to make the best of a situation, I MAKE DO.
I found a cheap-o underwater casing for my iphone... yeah, I know... a little Bridge and Tunnel, a little white trash... but IT WORKED. More or less. I am really please that a least one or three of the photos came out looking "not bad, not bad at all", despite the experimental nature of the entire endeavour.

Watermelon Boyfriend

I can't even.
Nope.
Not even a little bit.

Grace is the prettiest 16 year old in the efffffing world. I love her and all my sisters so much.
Especially when she's cool about being kawaii in all my photos.

The Anderson Family take Sugarhouse by storm...

I love these people.
I am so glad that they are in my life.

She inspires me....

The 'eyes' have it.

via
Hello weekend, let's see how delicately I can TOTALLY RUIN YOUR LIFE.

I have scratched my right eye, and now I know hell.

(Am I being too dramatic? Probably. I don't even care at this moment. Mostly, I am trying to think up a good pun for this blog entry's title.)

Ms. Jones

I've been watching some ANTM (for the layman, that would be America's Next Top Model) while I've been editing this week, and the modelling world and all it's lingo is creeping into my mind/vocabulary/dreams. A model had to "become" Grace Jones, in costume, makeup, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, attitude. The overall effect led to some internet diving and prowling.

The result:
WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO. That lady is a rock star!

I wish Grace Jones was my spirit animal.
But I don't think I'm confident enough for this kind of power.
What a gorgeous Amazon. A Wonder Woman in the flesh.

I’ve looked the devil in the face, and god, and somehow I've found a balance. But being extreme is at the same time a balance–one extreme balances the other. –Grace Jones

Yo' momma.

I just stumbled onto a beautiful Huffington Post article that displayed something, which to me is, truly touching. The article hit me BAM right in the center of my heart, probably because I have been swinging back and forth on the baby-crazy meter for a while now. This very moment, I'm crazy. Tomorrow: meh... not so much.
The photographer Ken Heyman took these photos over 50 years ago as a series for a book he co-wrote, Family. He recently had been cleaning out a storage unit, and found these photos in a box marked "Mothers". Just take a glance at my favorites from the article (and check out the article HERE), and you can see why my cold, black heart melted so:

Just add Saturday Morning Cartoons

I miss Lucky Charms cereal. Not that it went anywhere, but once you stop eating sugar for breakfast, you really start to fondly miss that day-long toothache. Especially when one opens the cereal cupboard to be faced only with BRAN FLAKES.

Ugh. I hate being a grown up sometimes.

Guilty Guilty Guilty

Some days you just need to INDULGE in the most sinful of guilty pleasures. The silky smooth slide into indulgence is oh-so-easy... despite the tap-tap-tapping of the straight laced and business suited guilt that desperately wants you to TURN OFF THE KARDASHIANS AND GO EXERCISE. I try not to saturate myself in either side of the guilty pleasure - gut-wrenching guilt sobbing spectrum, but who am I kidding? I love the ride. I LOVE the ride. So here I am, making a list. If you see me indulging in any of these items/activities, hold an immediate intervention. Or join me. BFF's for life.

SHOCK ME SHOCK ME SHOCK ME
WITH THAT DEVIANT BEHAVIOR:

GUILTY PLEASURES 2014
(including, but not limited to:)

  • Junior Mints
    via
  • Chick-fil-a, more specifically, eating Chick-fil-a food which has been 100% saturated in this stuff:
    via
  • Sleeping in
    via
  • Staying up till 6 AM (BUT insomnia, soooo...)
    via
  • Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, and Kesha (oops, of course I mean Ke$ha. But - Eww). Weirdy girl pop music in general. I love that ish.
    via
  • Imgur (in which you fall into, and immediately loose 2 hours of your life)
    via
  • Going to the Doctor. Dr. Pepper, that is. (don't even get me started on the amazeballs that is Cherry Vanilla DP)
    via
  • The aforementioned Keeping Up With The Kardashians (but so does Kate Middleton, so I'M STILL CLASSY)
    via
  • Ellipses...
    via
  • Baaaaaadly written teen novels. You know you also liked to love and loved to hate them in equal parts. "AHHHHHHHHH they are horrible.. but, oh my gosh, that's soooo not how you prounounce Renesmee's name." You've been there too, admit it.

Mermaiding Mermaiden Mermaid Claire

My good friend Lady Lavender, my purple haired friend Kathryn  Bagley Bingham, took some beautiful Selkie/Mermaid photos of me this last spring.
Of course of course of course, I am just barely getting around to posting this event. But, I just need to acknowledge her talent. She works almost exclusively in film, which is impressive, so everybody run and hire this girl to make you look like a fairy tale.
Check out her amazing website: CLICK HERE, FOOL
