J Rae's Birthday and "Look! A good artist!"

Today is my dear friend Jessica Rae Ecker's birthday. She is a remarkably talented lady who just finished up her MFA at Pratt Institute in NYC. So we've got talent on this roster, plus her rockin bod and beautimus face... girl's got it going on. She was my first roommate in Provo, and she tolerated my ups and downs, my love for eating meat, my tumultuous dating habits, and me pushing around the furniture to make up choreography in the living room. I finally got a chance to scope out her latest art pieces, and she has seriously taken the all the blue ribbons. I love these pieces, and will share some below, but for realsies, check out her website and love her like I do: jessicaraeecker.com

Au: glaring, gleaming, glistening, glittering, glossy

Remember 2002 when one wouldn't be caught dead in gold, "only sterling would touch this skin", Ag conquered Au everytime, etc? We were snobs of the highest echelon. That's what high school does to young maidens. Makes them picky about things from the periodic table of elements and clop around like young Clydesdales in their mommy's taller church shoes.
I confess that sometimes I like to think that I still like silver best, but really...
let's grow up* and go gold.

*When I say grow up, I'm not really imploring you to become a typical person. Being mature takes its toll. What a typical statement. I'm feel blase even saying it. I mean stay young without the dramatics and traumatics. Grow fun.

But learn to walk in heels. I can't say this enough.

I'm really in dire need of a good dance party. I mean a really really good dance party. Or geeze, just hand me a tambourine. I'll get this party started myself.

Svvvim with me.

Mona Lake, anyone? I should say, Burston Ponds... but I was introduced to it as a lake, and so shall it be forever and ever... amen.

I just want to swim. I just want to make friends with the Loch Ness Monster.

Summer Skin

Is anyone else stoked out of their mind for the Twilight Concert Series this summer? I am. Sort of.. Well... Yes, yes I am. I used to never NEVER miss a concert... but then they switched venues, from the Gallivan Plaza to Pioneer Park... and the magic IS still there, but it's different. Sometimes... I really miss that excitement. Maybe I just need to revamp this experience, make it new and shiny, maybe just go and pour myself back into the experience of being surrounded by the salt of the earth- people dancing, smoking, yelling across the grass. So far, summer means being sick and shut in. It's time to get back into my outside skin.

Date Night: Moonrise Kingdom

VIA
I am pretty obsessed with movies by Wes Anderson (Rushmore has been in my Top Five for years).
Which is why I was so excited to see Moonrise Kingdom, I practically used a paper chain, big red X's on the calender, and talked about it incessantly with anyone who will listen.

Chris took me out to the Broadway Theater, in SLC (check out how brilliant the Salt Lake Film Society is) and...
I was not disappointed.

Annette loves Frankie

Perfect summer movie = anything with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. I'm getting my twist on with the Beach Party. My favorite part has to be the credits, when the girl with the tasseled dress shakes it -and shakes it good- for about 6 minutes.

BEACH PARTY full movie - Thanks Hulu!
